Marcham Wins Back-to-Back USAC Western States Midget Races: Earns Number Two at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA

TULARE, CA - MAY 31, 2014... After winning his first Honda USAC Western Midget feature at Bakersfield, Trey Marcham claimed his second USAC Western States Midget victory at Tulare's Merle Stone Chevrolet Thunderbowl Raceway. Using the outside line to gain momentum off the cushion, last season's Rookie of the Year charged from ninth to grab the lead on lap 19 to earn his second consecutive victory.

Chauffeuring the Josh Ford Motorsports King Racing Products/A&A Precision Machine TCR/Esslinger, Marcham qualified near the middle of the field of 18 midgets in thirteenth. This had Trey starting 5th in his heat race where he finished 3rd. The 30 lap main started pretty rough with a caution almost immediately and Trey started in the middle of the pack, 9th. Cautions littered the race, four before the 10th lap and Trey steadily moved up. In the 11th lap there was a four car cluster that had the red out for a time and when the dust settled and the racing resumed there were just 5 survivors and plenty of elbow room. Now in 3rd with 19 to go, Trey was opportunistic by taking 2nd, then the lead by the time there was 5 to go. He did not look back taking the white and the checkered, winning it! With the win, Marcham remains the points leader in the USAC Western States Dirt series and is second in the overall USAC-WS series standings.

Marcham will look to continue his success in Midget competition, as he competes for Bryan Clauson Racing in the illustrious Indiana Midget Week, June 11 through 15 where Marcham will race at five different tracks in USAC National Midget competition over five consecutive nights, competing at some of most fabled tracks of the Midwest.

Marcham will also compete in the 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway on September 20 and the Gold Crown Midget Nationals October 2 through 4 at Tri-City Speedway as well as the Kokomo Clash at Kokomo Speedway on October 17.

Marcham, a senior Engineering student at Oklahoma University, with over 11 years of experience in Micro Sprints, Ford Focus Midgets, 360 Non-Wing Sprint Cars and asphalt Late Models, has shown amazing poise and talent has been seen passing drivers with thousands more laps and experience than he in a Midget. Marcham has amassed six Championships at I-44 Riverside Speedway in Newcastle, Oklahoma, as well as several wins and podium finishes in 2013. Marcham claimed the 2013 USAC-Western States Midget Rookie-of-the-Year honor, compiling Top 10 finishes in the USAC-WS Dirt and overall standings as well. In addition to his success on dirt in open-wheel action in the Midget, Marcham showed versatility, performing a clean sweep on pavement, sweeping a pair of Late Model features at Myrtle Beach.
