Marcham Doubles Up at Myrtle Beach in First Career Win

MYRTLE BEACH, SC :: Trey Marcham performed a clean sweep at Myrtle Beach Speedway to score his first career Late Model Stock Car win and then his second career win after sitting on the pole. With the twin race wins, Marcham is locked in to a top 10 starting position in the Myrtle Beach 400 which will be held in November.

“We can start no worse than 10th in the Myrtle Beach 400 so I’m excited about that,” said Marcham. “The car was so good tonight; I can’t even begin to say how lucky I got to run this car. Greg Marlowe gave me a great car. I couldn’t have done it without him and the crew.”

Marcham qualified for the pole for the first of two twin Late Model feature races. He went on to win that race. The top six was then inverted for the second race, forcing Marcham to start sixth. He worked his way back up to the top, taking the lead on lap 23. From there, he never looked back.
“This was my first pole and my first win on the same night, that’s pretty good,” said Marcham. “It’s been a long time coming. We’ve always had a good car wherever we’ve gone but something happens. We either get crashed or something bad happens. Two years ago, we were running the limited race and got crashed. We got crashed again last race. We should’ve won.”

“When I first got here, I wasn’t real sure how we were going to do,” explained Marcham. “I haven’t been doing it all year like a lot of these other guys. We had a good car and I had confidence. I’m always confident we’ll have a good car. It depends on me as a driver and outside forces you can’t really control sometimes. As soon as I got in the lead, especially the second time, I knew I was in control. The first time I had to save my stuff and it was hard to control myself because you want to go as fast as you can but it’s easy to mess up. I’m just glad we finally won.”

Marcham will be back in action on Saturday, June 6th at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, NC for Twin 100 lap Late Model races.
Trey Marcham has 11 years of experience from NASCAR Late Models, A-Class, Non Wing and Multi class mini-sprints to Midgets. He is currently leading in points for the USAC Western Midget Rookie of the Year award. His goal on the east coast is to compete in the K&N East Series and move onto the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
